Crawford County Food Summit: Building a Stronger Food System Together

On May 1, community members, local leaders, and partner organizations gathered in Pittsburg for the Crawford County Food Summit to discuss the future of food access in our community.

The day began with a presentation of key findings from Wesley House's recent community food survey, giving participants a clearer picture of the strengths, challenges, and opportunities within Crawford County's food system. Through small-group discussions, attendees shared their perspectives, explored what the data means for our community, and identified priorities for future action.

In the afternoon, participants worked together to develop strategies that Eat Well can help lead in partnership with local organizations and residents. The conversations highlighted the value of collaboration and the importance of building a food system that works for everyone.

The summit was just the beginning. Our team is compiling the ideas, notes, and priorities shared throughout the day to identify clear next steps and guide Eat Well's work moving forward. We'll continue working with community partners to turn these conversations into action and keep participants informed as plans take shape.

Participants take part in an excersize to determaine community food priorities.

We're grateful to everyone who attended and contributed their time, ideas, and experiences. We'd also like to thank the John U. Parolo Education Center for hosting the summit and helping make the day a success.

Together, we're building a stronger, more connected food system for Crawford County, and we're excited for what's ahead.
